Same Sky
All Worlds Share the Same Sky…

Aquaria = OMG!

So today I happened by pure chance to stumble upon info regarding an independent game in development by a small company called Bit-Blot. The game is called Aquaria, and is set to hit the seas sometime soon, I’d imagine. This game looks astonishing, so you really should check out all of the stuff I gathered together.

Aquaria is a 2D game starring an elf-like underwater creature named Naija. The game starts with Naija leaving home after spending her entire life alone and pondering her own identity. The game’s narrative looks to tell the tale of her mysterious world as she unearths the puzzle of the fate of her people. The game looks smooth as butter along the lines of Odin Sphere with gorgeous artistic design–the levels are quite varied, near as we’ve seen, and are bursting with emotion.

The music that we’ve been able to preview thus far sounds equally atmospheric. But this game isn’t just about the atmosphere–it’s a free-exploration game set in a huge underwater world. Your character can sing songs, and by singing different songs, she can do different things, from moving rocks to changing forms to better suit her situation.

We don’t really know much more than as far as gameplay mechanics are concerned–the game is apparently finished in the general sense of the word, but the developers have more they want to refine and add.

The narrative, from what we’ve been told, will be entirely within the gameplay and use full voice work–the voice of the leading role is of high quality, too.

Anyway, I could go on, but frankly, I don’t know much else. What I can do is point you in the direction of media that’s been released…

First, the awesome trailer…

And some music…

A demo of some songs…

And the sound from the released trailer…

Click the pictures above to get to the sites I’ve found that shed some details on this PC game.

It’s also coming to Mac, by the way. Furthermore, can you believe that this entire game is being made by TWO GUYS? Astonishing. I can’t wait for this one–I’ve got a good feeling. It’d be sweet to see this as a Wii or DS title–they’re considering it, too.
